The idea presented in the proposal is designed to ensure that 30-40 years hence we are living amidst a wonderful system of parks and open space.

Beset by many ugly and ill-designed apartment buildings, the City of Seattle embarked on Design Review. I was very much involved and only time will tell whether that process will actually work and produce a more graceful city.

In the early stages of our deliberation, we invited Professor Gary Hack of MIT to come visit and share some of his observations on design review, an administrative practice
